Vecker Joins Macrolease as Next President & CEO

Paul Vecker joined equipment finance company Macrolease as president and CEO. He succeeds Daniel West, who founded the company, which serves the fitness, franchise, nonprofit, and healthcare markets, in 1969 and has served as its CEO since. 

Vecker brings with him nearly 35 years of experience in the equipment finance industry, most recently as a senior executive at PNC Equipment Finance, the fourth largest bank-owned equipment finance company. While at PNC Equipment Finance, Vecker served in a variety of leadership roles, including chief growth officer and general manager of the company’s Vendor Finance Business.

Prior to joining PNC, Vecker was the president and CEO of The Navigator Group, a specialized equipment finance business which he founded. He also held senior executive positions at a number of other public and privately-owned equipment finance companies.

Crestmark Adds Four to Equipment Finance Division

Crestmark made four new appointments in its equipment finance division: Jeremy Borkowski, managing director, corporate finance; Douglas Lee, director of pricing; Melissa Perkins, counsel; and Randall Pundzus, regional vice president.

Capital One Snags Underwriting Leaders from Key, Santander

Capital One appointed Todd Hammond to its Underwriting and Portfolio Management team and welcomed Brian Schwinn to the team on June 10. Hammond will lead underwriting for Middle Market Banking, while Schwinn will lead the Financial Institutions Group’s Underwriting and Portfolio Management team. Both will report to John Crosby, head of Underwriting and Portfolio Management for Capital One’s Commercial Bank.

Key Equipment Finance Promotes Gross and Bullen to New EVP Leadership Roles

Key Equipment Finance promoted Amy Gross and Peter Bullen to executive vice president. Gross will lead Key Government Finance and Commercial Vendor, and Bullen will lead Bank Channel and Clean Energy.

Wintrust Commercial Finance Adds Ault as SVP/Natl Sales Manager

Craig Ault joined Wintrust Commercial Finance as senior vice president and national sales manager. Ault has more than 30 years of direct sales experience, beginning as an account manager and rising through the ranks to achieve both national and global sales manager roles. He began his career with Burroughs and spent 22 years with CSI Leasing. He also previously served on the ELFA Independent Middle Market Business Council Steering Committee.

Thirty-Seven Stearns Bank Pros Pass CLFP Exam

Thirty-seven individuals from Stearns Bank sat and passed the Certified Lease & Finance Professional exam following two private Academies for Lease & Finance Professionals hosted by Stearns.

Haverty Appointed New President & CEO of TimePayment

Fintech company TimePayment appointed Jay Haverty its new president and CEO. Haverty joined the firm in March 2018 as chief operating officer in conjunction with the company’s leadership succession plan. Prior to that, he served as the CEO of d50 Media, a multi-channel acquisition agency specializing in DRTV/media buying, SEM, cross-channel analytics and SEO.

Opus Bank Appoints Taylor as New CEO and President

Opus Bank appointed Paul W. Taylor CEO and president of the bank, as well as to the board of directors. A 34-year banking and finance veteran, Taylor most recently served as CEO and president of Denver-based Guaranty Bancorp, and its wholly-owned bank subsidiary, Guaranty Bank & Trust.

GE Capital Alum Wilkens Joins Liberty Commercial Finance as VP

Liberty Commercial Finance added Heather Wilkens to its lease administration team as vice president of documentation and funding. Wilkens joins fellow GE Capital alums Jen Bradford and Kirk Nelson to form an experienced, cohesive back office to help drive the company’s continued growth.

GE Capital Vet Pagliaro Succeeds Hatfield as Hitachi CFO

Hitachi Capital America named Executive Vice President Terry Hatfield its new operational excellence leader and hired Valerie Pagliaro as senior vice president and chief financial officer. In her newly-created position, Hatfield will be responsible for spearheading a company-wide initiative to drive customer experience, process, and operating infrastructure improvements. 

Wells Fargo Restructures Commercial Banking Biz with Hranicky as Lead

Wells Fargo launched a new structure and leadership team for its Commercial Banking business, which will be led by Kyle Hranicky, a 25-year company veteran. To create the new configuration, Wells Fargo combined its Business Banking, Government & Institutional Banking and Middle Market Banking businesses.

CSI Promotes Rousseau to EVP, Global Business Development

CSI Leasing promoted Jeff Rousseau to executive vice president of global business development. Previously senior vice president, Rousseau will continue to spearhead CSI’s global efforts and oversee its M&A team. He joined CSI in 2000 as a corporate attorney and has served in a management role within CSI’s international group since 2007.

Partners Capital hired 10 additional sales reps, bringing the company’s total number of vendor sales reps to over 80 people. Steven Hudson, ECN Capital CEO, agreed to extend his employment contract to 2023. ECN President Jim Nikopoulos concurrently retired from his positions. 

Smith Succeeds Cohen as Firestone Financial CEO

Michael Smith, executive vice president and chief operations officer of Firestone Financial, succeeded long-time CEO David Cohen, who transitioned out of the company in mid-May 2019. The management change was part of a well-coordinated succession plan that was in process since Berkshire Bank acquired Firestone Financial in 2015. 

United Rentals Promotes McDonnell to CCO, Asplund to COO

Matthew Flannery succeeded Michael Kneeland as United Rentals president and CEO, with Kneeland becoming chairman of the board. Flannery also finalized his executive leadership team, with Paul McDonnell promoted to chief commercial officer and Dale Asplund to promoted to chief operating officer. 

Herrmann Joins Vantage as Kansas & Missouri Sales Leader

Vantage Financial has expanded its presence in the Midwest with the addition of Sam Herrmann. Hermann will be working with Vantage’s existing and new clients in Kansas and Missouri. He previously worked in financial services for a bank and has more than six years of financial services sales experience.

CSI Promotes Foley and O’Brien to SVPs

CSI Leasing promoted Brian Foley and Tim O’Brien to senior vice presidents of sales. Foley will continue his role of originating lease transactions, primarily in Illinois and Wisconsin, while O’Brien will continue to originate lease transactions primarily in the Northeast. 

Kozikowski Joins Webster Bank as HR Director

Webster Bank hired Theresa A. Kozikowski as its director of Human Resources, Enabling Functions and Employee Relations. She will report to Chief Human Resources Officer Bernard Garrigues and be responsible for HR policies, risk and compliance, and regulatory matters, and will serve as the HR liaison to the Operational Risk Management Committee and Legal.

Greenbriar Names Adrian Downes Chief Financial Officer

The Greenbrier Companies appointed Senior Vice President and Acting Chief Financial Officer Adrian Downes to the permanent chief financial officer position. In addition to his duties managing Greenbrier’s accounting, tax, internal audit and IT functions, Downes will also serve as the company’s principal financial and accounting officer. He will report to Lorie Tekorius, executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Seifert Takes Over as CEO of First Bank

Shelley Seifert, former chief operating officer of First Bank, has taken over the position of chairman and CEO of First Bank. She succeeds Tim Lathe, who is retiring from his position as CEO in July. Seifert will assume day-to-day leadership responsibilities and will also serve as CEO and president of FB Corporation, the holding company of First Bank.

Arvest Equipment Finance Adds Two to Vendor Business Development Team

Arvest Bank hired Eric Johnston and Jay Bankston as vendor business development representatives for Arvest Equipment Finance. Johnston previously worked for Caterpillar and as a territory manager for IronPlanet. Bankston most recently served as a regional sales manager for BigIron Auctions and previously worked for IronPlanet and Victor L. Phillips Co.

Wells Fargo Appoints Owen, Van Beurden to Tech Leadership Positions

Wells Fargo named Gary Owen chief information security officer and head of Information Security and Steve Hagerman head of Consumer Lending Technology. Both will join the company’s Technology organization and report directly to Saul Van Beurden, head of Technology. Owen will be based in New York City, while Hagerman will work out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Capital One Appoints Westra Managing Director, Restaurant Investments

Capital One named Paul Westra managing director of Restaurant Investments, supporting its Food, Beverage & Agriculture specialty banking team. Prior to joining Capital One, Westra was chief financial officer and treasurer of iPic Entertainment, where he helped lead the company’s successful initial public offering. 

Antonakos Appointed SVP/CCO of CBI Equipment Finance

Commerce Bank promoted Sherry Antonakos to senior vice president. Antonakos will serve as the chief credit officer of CBI Equipment Finance, the wholly owned subsidiary of Commerce Bank. She has spent the last 14 years of her career at Commerce Bank.

Onset Financial Promotes Burrows to CRO

Onset Financial promoted Matt Burrows to chief revenue officer. In his new role, Burrows will oversee all high-profile transactions and drive integration and alignment between marketing, sales and customer support. Burrows joined Onset in 2014 when Onset acquired Mazuma Capital. He entered leasing in 2006 after a successful career as a financial advisor.

BMO Harris Hires Ganann as Managing Director, ABL Retail Finance

BMO Harris Bank hired Michael Ganann as managing director, Retail Originations, Asset-Based Lending. In this role, he will lead the nationwide coverage efforts of BMO clients and prospects in the retail industry. Ganann has over 20 years of experience, including 15 years in the retail finance ABL industry.

Boyle Joins Burke & Herbert Bank as President & COO

David P. Boyle joined Burke & Herbert Bank, the oldest bank in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as president and chief operating officer. W. Scott McSween, who holds this position currently, will become the bank’s CEO and serve in that capacity until his retirement at year-end, whereupon Boyle will take over the role.

Wells Fargo Names Clifford-Toomey New COO of Corporate Risk

Wells Fargo named Kate Clifford-Toomey as chief operating officer for Corporate Risk, reporting to Chief Risk Officer Mandy Norton. Clifford-Toomey will be responsible for coordinating risk operations, business architecture and strategy-related efforts across Corporate Risk functions. She will also manage the Risk Framework Office and Corporate Policy Office.

JPMorgan Chase Alum Herman Joins Huntington as Chief Auditor

Risk management expert Nate Herman joined Huntington Bank as chief auditor and a member of its executive leadership team. Herman will be responsible for the design and implementation of Huntington’s internal audit program, ensuring that governance, compliance and operations, and internal controls are in place to effectively identify and manage risk. 

Milestone Names Moulin, York Co-Leads of Commercial Team

GECAS subsidiary and helicopter lessor Milestone Aviation Group appointed Sebastien Moulin, head of Europe & Americas, and Michael York, head of Emerging Markets, to lead the company’s Commercial team. Together, they will lead, drive, develop and manage Milestone’s overall commercial strategy, global business development, initiatives and growth across the Milestone commercial team.

Crestmark Hires JP Morgan Vet Ryan as VP/Sr. Underwriter in East Division

Crestmark hired John Ryan as vice president, senior underwriter for the East Division. Based in Troy, MI, he will report to Senior Vice President, East Division Underwriting Manager John Trendell. Ryan most recently served as vice president of the special credits group with JPMorgan Chase Bank.

Patrick Joins Ampil as Business Development Executive

Industry veteran Heather Patrick joined Ampil as a business development executive. She will be based in Austin, TX and be responsible for the South-Central region. Prior to joining Ampil, Patrick served as CSI Leasing’s Global Vendor Program manager and was also a financial technology specialist.

Schab Joins LeaseQuery as Chief Operating Officer

Lease accounting software provider LeaseQuery hired Joe Schab as the company’s chief operating officer. Schab will run day-to-day operations as the company continues its rapid growth and expansion. Schab previously served as president of Cardlytics (CDLX), a purchase intelligence platform. 

Med One Group Appoints Thomas & Snavely to Board of Directors

Medical equipment leasing, rental, and sales company Med One Group appointed both Sheri Thomas and Leslie Snavely to its Board of Directors. Thomas is currently the vice president of Finance & Accounting with Coherx Medical, and Snavely is the chief digital officer at CHG Healthcare.

Barclays Taps Wright as Co-Head of U.S. ECM

Taylor Wright has been named as a managing director and co-head of Barclays’ U.S. Equity Capital Markets. Wright will be based in New York and will report to Jean-Francois Astier, global head of Capital Markets at Barclays.

Kaplan Joins CIT Northbridge in Business Development Role

CIT appointed Elijah Kaplan to lead CIT Northbridge Credit business development efforts across the Northeast. Based in New York, Kaplan is an experienced professional in middle market lending, private equity and restructuring. He has over 19 years of experience in financing, acquiring and advising middle-market businesses on asset-based transactions across a wide array of industries.

Huntington Appoints Dietz, Viener to Regional President Roles in Michigan

Huntington Bank appointed two long-time Huntington leaders in Michigan to take on new and expanded responsibilities to support the company’s continued growth in the state. Eric Dietz, a thirty-year financial services veteran, has been named regional president for Southeast Michigan. Greg Viener, a fifteen-year veteran of Huntington, has been named Mid-Michigan regional president. 

Great Lakes Asset Solutions Doubles Employee Numbers

Commercial repossession and collections firm Great Lakes Asset Solutions has almost doubled its repossession employee count. At the start of 2018, the company added an additional salesperson, Robert Pugh, who assists in locating and onboarding new clients to help continue with the rapid growth. Additionally, Scott Evans teamed up with John Michaels as the two managers covering the day to day operations.

Byrd Joins Regions Bank as Head of Fraud

Regions Bank hired Lee Byrd as Head of Fraud. In this newly created role, Byrd will focus on protecting customers and the company from financial fraud and will report to Logan Pichel, head of Enterprise Operations.

First Financial Promotes Christoferson to SVP, Advertising & Marketing

First Financial Bankshares promoted Will Christoferson to senior vice president of Advertising and Marketing. He succeeds Michele P. Stevens, who is retiring. Before joining First Financial in 2018, Christoferson spent nearly a decade at a large bank specializing in consumer, small business, and commercial lending.

ABLE Equipment Rental Appoints Caldaroni CFO

ABLE Equipment Rental, a supplier of construction equipment rentals, sales, service and parts, appointed Thomas Caldaroni as chief financial officer. Caldaroni has held several key leadership roles with operational and financial responsibilities for large Fortune 500 companies as well as smaller to medium sized enterprises.
